Photographer Yong-Ho Kim

Yong-Ho Kim is also another famous photographer in South Korea.

Over 20 years he took photographs of fashion, advertising, corporation images, and movie posters. From 1998-2004, He was the president of Korean Fashion Photographers Association. From his major exhibitions, I will post some photographs on “The Enduring Passion,” in 2003, with Mercedes Benz, and solo exhibition “Mom,”(it doesn’t mean mother, it is how you pronounce ‘body’ in Korean) in 2007.

In 2003, exhibition “The Enduring Passion” was about Korean Art Masters. 28 Korean masters of art were selected with each field’s professionals’ advice. These artists are the few masters from selected 28.

Although Yong-Ho Kim is famous for fashion photographs, he doesn’t just take fashion and advertising.

Another exhibition, “MOM” is photographs of human body.

Nudes of variety of people like celebrities from show business, art, music, to athletes, ballerinas, and trans-genders.

I think most of Koreans are still strict about nude. There are many who will think it could be a form or object of an art, but still more people think that it is too sexual or they just don’t get how it is artistic. However, Yong-Ho Kim’s photographs show rather philosophical point of view than sexual. On one interview, he stated that this was about studying of human body, not just “nude” like most press would like to call in order to gain interest from the public. Also in the interview, he said that this exhibition was to break some prejudices about variety of body shapes of variety of people. That it wasn’t just about celebrities’ nude picture.
